Artist: Madeline Alaina Sandlin

A designer, a creative and retail entrepreneur, and a self-taught artist. She grew up climbing southern magnolias in North Alabama, and after stints in London and Nashville, she now calls Huntsville home with her dogs Finn, Fisher, and partner David.

As a graduate of Oxford University by way of the University of Alabama, Leith’s School of Food & Wine in London, and Music Recording at Belmont University, Madeline’s interest, celebration, and appreciation of life and the pursuit of beauty and creating it is immediate.

Madeline’s passions have led her to style for Grammy award-winning artists, designing retail and residential experiences, art directing editorial campaigns, and creating visual and written narratives for fashion and fine jewelry lines.

In her art, Madeline is drawn to abstract shapes and fine lines with the ever-present intention to exhibit them aloof. Trained in classical ballet, Sandlin sees the juxtaposition between movement, music, and restraint as catalysts for her work. All aspects of her life help cultivate her expressive and evolving visual voice. Madeline credits her maternal Greek grandmother and late mother’s lifelong dedication to creating abstract works of art on impractical surfaces for her now burgeoning path.

Madeline’s works range from androgynous faces to expressive line work, all of which display her originality and playful approach to shape and color using an array of mixed media.
