Art History

I have always had a desire to paint and create and was given the opportunity to study with several artists to include Barbara Evans, John Lonergan, Les Yarborough, Jake Waggoner, Alvaro Castegnet, Kim English, and many others over the past 30 years.  As a result, I have succeeded in mastering alla prima impressionistic oil paintings.  I have won many awards and participated in many outdoor shows and galleries during my art career.  Today, I love to paint En Plein Air which allows me to paint lost edges with an eye on color and composition, capturing the light quickly and working from life! God has provided me with this talent and the opportunity to share this gift with others!

Style

I paint impressionistic Oil paintings to include landscapes, house portraits, dog portraits, Alabama scenes and Still Lifes. Commissions are always welcomed of a special place in time or a portrait of a dog or special occasion.  I also paint in watercolor!  I have always been drawn to the Impressionistic Painters such as Monet, Twatchman, Degas, and Sargeant.  Their paintings reflect a moment in time without the same effect as a photo!  Lost edges, Color, composition that catches the eye all speak to me and I hope that I reflect some of those qualities in my paintings.

Inspiration

Certainly, my family has inspired me to be a better painter and artist as they have always taken an active part in my art career.  Artist who have inspired me would be Barbara Evans and John Lonergan, two very notable artists whose careers have been dedicated to an art filled life!
